An Early-Career Muslim American Psychiatrist and Her Clinical Challenges
摘要
This chapter examines the challenges Muslim American psychiatrists face in navigating the Western psychiatric model, focusing on cultural divides, family dynamics, and the impact of mental health stigma. Through personal experiences and case studies, it highlights the difficulties of balancing cultural sensitivity with clinical practice, while addressing the role of Islamophobia and structural racism in mental health care. The chapter advocates for a more culturally competent approach to psychiatry that respects family involvement and dismantles systemic biases.
