The largest contribution of carbon dioxide to climate change and global warming issues raises the urgent need to mitigate the highly emitter sectors of carbon dioxide. That has brought carbon capture technologies into focus as a viable solution, but selecting the right sector for implementation is a complex task. This study used analytical hierarchy process methodology to evaluate the high rank emission sectors based on four key criteria those are carbon dioxide emission from the sector, utilization of the captured carbon dioxide, energy demand, and capture cost. A structured decision-making framework was developed to compare sectors such as cement, steel, power plant, and petrochemical. The result identified that power plant is the most potential for carbon capture implementation. The applied methodology provides a transparent and systematic tool for policymakers to set a strategy that guides the deployment of carbon capture in the emission-intensive sectors.

摘要
