Well-Being in the Context of Employee Career Development

Companies are becoming aware of the important relationship between career and well-being. In consequence, they are delegating the task of ensuring employees’ contentment and satisfaction to well-being experts, who are developing different strategies tailored to organizations’ needs. The chapter’s objective is to explore the essence of well-being and the tools used in this area within companies as an important component of career development for employees in the context of changes posed by technological advancement. Analysis of reports and in-depth interviews with well-being experts allowed us to identify tools that organizations use to support the well-being of employees and their career development. The findings reveal a wide range of solutions, related mainly to mental and physical health as well as financial, social, and developmental aspects. Additionally, two main consequences of technological development were identified: improved access to resources and well-being-related activities, and enhanced support for career growth. The findings make a valuable contribution to the field of well-being and its relation to career development.
