Child Poverty in Finland
摘要
Child poverty in Finland is low in international comparisons. The main driver for the rather low child poverty rates is the comprehensive, universal welfare state, which significantly reduces child poverty. Despite the success in international comparison, child poverty remains a problem in Finland, as more than 10% of children live in low-income households. The chapter illustrates that in Finland child poverty rates have remained relatively stable in the 2000s. Especially single parents, large families, and immigrants can be considered as groups more vulnerable to child poverty. The chapter demonstrates that during the 2000s policies have had both increasing and decreasing impacts on child poverty in Finland.
