Digital Transformation in Nonprofit Sports Clubs: Opportunities and Challenges
摘要
Digital transformation poses both opportunities and challenges for nonprofit sports clubs. This study explores the role of internal and external communication as a critical action field in the digitalization of nonprofit sports clubs. Drawing on qualitative data from 22 interviews, five workshops with 25 participants and quantitative data from a survey of 953 respondents, the study analyses communication practices, tools, and digital readiness. Findings indicate that while digital communication tools, such as WhatsApp, email, and social media, are widely adopted, many clubs suffer from fragmented systems, limited resources, and inconsistent strategies. The effective use of communication technologies depends strongly on individual digital literacy and the availability of volunteers. Identified success factors include a clear communication strategy, centralised platforms, and the involvement of digitally skilled members. The results point to the need for structured approaches to communication management in sports clubs and highlight the potential of digital tools to improve stakeholder engagement.
