This chapter addresses food waste valorization as sustainable construction materials. The study analyzed and discussed various applications and recycling approaches including converting food waste into bioplastics, eco-friendly building blocks, and other construction materials. The analysis shows that converting food waste into construction materials would contribute to waste reduction and mitigation, provide socio-economic and environmental benefits, and support sustainable development goals (SDG) mainly SDG3, SDG9, SDG9, and SDG12. However, the study highlighted multiple challenges mainly related to materials, properties, large-scale implementation, and regulatory standards remain. Yet the study highlights the need for further scientific research to optimize food waste valorization in the construction industry which would help in food waste management.

摘要
