Dematerializing Promissory Notes: A Service-Oriented Blockchain Architecture and Web Platform for Secure Financial Document Management
摘要
Promissory Notes (PN) remain a cornerstone of formal financial commitments but are still predominantly managed using paper-based processes. This leads to operational inefficiencies, elevated compliance burdens, and data accessibility challenges. This paper presents a digital platform built on a permissioned blockchain infrastructure that replaces paper-based PN workflows with secure, scalable, and verifiable digital services. The platform includes a blockchain backend based on Cosmos and CometBFT, a modular web frontend developed in React, and a RESTful middleware API built in Go. Core functionalities include role-based onboarding, PN issuance and signing, data encryption, lifecycle management, and real-time PN observation. The platform supports all processes present in the lifecycle of paper based PN while providing mechanisms to meet the legal requirements, reduce processing times, and improve governance in institutional and enterprise contexts, and is currently entering a testing phase in a pre-production environment.
