Generative AI in STEM: A Guide for Secondary School Teachers
摘要
Generative AI (GenAI) is revolutionizing secondary STEM education by improving teaching methodologies and increasing student engagement. This technology facilitates personalized learning experiences tailored to the diverse needs of students, promoting inclusivity and supporting underrepresented groups. By utilizing GenAI, educators can develop dynamic, project-based learning environments that encourage critical thinking and creativity while minimizing cognitive load, thereby allowing a stronger focus on higher-order thinking tasks. To maximize the benefits of GenAI, it is crucial to tackle challenges such as curriculum adaptation, teacher readiness, and ethical issues surrounding data privacy. This book chapter presents an extensive literature review utilizing the PRISMA 2020 (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and collecting recent articles from 2020–2025. The PRISMA 2020 guidelines are designed to improve the reporting of systematic reviews. Research indicates that GenAI can significantly enhance lesson planning and aid students in grasping complex concepts. The successful integration of GenAI in STEM education relies on collaborative efforts among educators, policymakers, and technology developers to address implementation challenges effectively.
