Analogies
摘要
Is an analogy allowed between the narrative schemes of historians and those of evolutionary biologists? Throughout this book, we answer “yes”, arguing in favor of the statement. Here a short summary. (1) All living beings are characterized by their innerness that allows interpreting their situatedness in the world, here and now. We suggest differentiate inner processes into two Closures, characterized as cell interior (Closure 1) and cell communities (Closure 2). (2) For evolution of any community it is typical to start with a short plastic phase when many alternative paths to the future are possible. It will follow with the elasticity phase when the community becomes more conservative and tends buffering all deviations back to “norm”. (3) We introduced the concept of Appearance, as a sum total of all possible phenotypes of the living being. Its evolution proceeds through evolution of phenotypes that can be found in different phases on the plasticity–elasticity scale. (4) Finally, we express some questions, even doubts, that will need further thinking and research.
