The chapter investigates the issue of green tea leaf theft in Nandi County, Kenya, highlighting its significant impact on the agricultural sector and the profitability of farmers. Despite the growing interest in rural criminology, the phenomenon of tea theft has been largely neglected in scholarly discourse. The study aims to analyse the patterns, causes, and socio-economic factors contributing to this crime in regions predominantly engaged in tea cultivation. Furthermore, it proposes actionable recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders in the tea industry to enhance security measures and develop community-driven strategies to combat tea theft, ultimately ensuring the sustainability and growth of Kenya’s vital tea sector.
