This Book brings together for the first time different palaeontological and geological aspects (e.g., palaeoecology, biochronostratigraphy, palaeoclimatology, palaeoenvironments, magnetostratigraphy, glaciations) of the Pampean region of Argentina and neighboring areas from the Late Miocene to the Holocene. It contains the scientific contributions of 32 specialist researchers from leading Argentinian academic and scientific institutions. This contribution is part of the Palaeontological Series entitled “Late Cenozoic fossil mammals of southern South America” and forms the basis for understanding the subsequent volumes in this Series.
