We consider infinite media with lower-speed, nonzero-wide waveguides and wave localization in such structures. General considerations and studying of particular problems for a membrane, sound channel in fluid, square-cell lattice, and a bending plate are presented. Localized waves are found to consist of two parts. One propagates in the waveguide.
