This study explores the financial resources and sustainability strategies of Maahad Tahfiz institutions in the Kuala Muda and Baling districts of Kedah, Malaysia. The economic resilience of these religious and educational institutions has been a growing concern due to their heavy dependence on community donations and inconsistent governmental support. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through document analysis involving 24 Tahfiz institutions. The findings revealed a diverse financial strategy landscape, with core funding sourced from student fees, donations, waqf, and one-off governmental assistance. Additionally, several Tahfiz institutions engaged in entrepreneurial activities such as livestock sales, food services, religious package services, and educational programs. The study highlights the urgent need for structured financial planning, diversified revenue streams, and institutional governance enhancements to ensure long-term economic sustainability. Recommendations for policy-making and further research directions are also discussed.
