Malnutrition Among Selected Women Construction Workers in Bengaluru, India

Construction is the second largest industry in India after agriculture and contributes significantly to the GDP. It provides employment to both skilled and unskilled workers and is presently growing at the rate of around 7% per annum. Malnutrition among women construction workers is a prevalent issue in India. Despite the government's efforts to improve the living standards and working conditions of the construction industry, women workers continue to face numerous challenges that contribute to malnutrition. With the rapid increase in construction sector, the number of female construction workers is increased. The problems of women worker is still not addressed adequately by health sector. The aim of this research is to identify the key drivers of malnutrition among women construction workers in India and provide evidence-based recommendations to address the issue. By building on the existing research and using credible sources, this study aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on improving the working conditions and health outcomes of women construction workers in India. The data has been collected from women workers across Bangalore district. The study identifies the major factors contributing to malnutrition among the women workers. It also indicates certain areas which need immediate attention. It also draws our attention to certain correlations and inter-relationships.
