Although being one of the cornerstone concepts of the modern-day law of the EU, Union citizenship remains largely unclear and intensively debated. The introduction sets the stage for the analysis carried out in the book by presenting the research question it aims to answer, outlining the approach taken in this monograph and giving a short overview of the book’s structure.
