Nosocomial infections are a serious challenge to society. Such infections are more prominent in patients as well as the accompanying person after treatment and prolonged stay in the treatment facility. The infection becomes lethal in case of multi-drug resistance. Several strategies including antibiotics, synthetic therapeutics, and cleaning agents have been evolved for the prevention and treatment of infection but use of antibiotics (consumption) and cleaning agents (surface cleaning and disinfection) can also contribute to the evolution of resistant strains in long run. It fueled the need of herbal and effective bioactive compounds that can be used either for cleaning-disinfection or as therapeutics. Phytochemicals have proved effective in several researches in past which can be applied more precisely if integrated with nanotechnology and other advanced technologies like artificial intelligence-machine learning. The current book chapter represents a insights and possible applications of bioactive molecules to counter biofilm-associated infections.
