In this paper, a multivariate statistical method to assess coastal erosion hazards is tested on two soft cliffs located in France and Croatia. This method requires two 3D digital elevation or surface models at two dates from which cliff edge and toe positions, mean slope and volume are extracted and compared in time. The potential hazard of the cliffs is synthesised and classified using a statistical classification tool (clustering analysis).

摘要

In this paper, a multivariate statistical method to assess coastal erosion hazards is tested on two soft cliffs located in France and Croatia. This method requires two 3D digital elevation or surface models at two dates from which cliff edge and toe positions, mean slope and volume are extracted and compared in time. The potential hazard of the cliffs is synthesised and classified using a statistical classification tool (clustering analysis).
