Overview of New Advances in Modeling Sediment Transport Caused by Tsunami Waves
摘要
In this work we provide an overview of recent developments at the NOAA Center for Tsunami Research (NCTR) for sediment modeling in the framework of tsunamis. We describe a new numerical approach of the well-known shallow-water equations with an additional equation for the transport of the moving bed. In this approach, the eigenvalue structure of the model is leveraged into the path-conservative numerical discretization, resulting in a fast, weakly-coupled and accurate numerical approach. We present some successful comparisons with survey data. Additionally, we explore other potential capabilities of the model, like tide prediction or historical tsunami recreation.
