Assessment of Surfzone Bathymetry Measurements from Yellowfin ASV in a Range of Conditions and Beaches
摘要
This work assesses the performance of the Yellowfin Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV) in measuring surfzone bathymetry at two beaches under a range of conditions. The Yellowfin ASV, equipped with a precision GNSS and a Cerulean S500 echosounder, conducted 8 surveys at sites in Duck, NC, and Martha's Vineyard, MA. Surveys comprised of repeated lines were conducted in order to evaluate for uncertainty in the measurement. Statistical analyses indicate good agreement between repeated transects and are evaluated for total vertical uncertainty. Results demonstrate the vehicle's ability to navigate surf zones and produce accurate bathymetric data, with the highest uncertainties primarily observed in very shallow areas.
