Adoption of FinTech by Young Adults in Mauritius: Integrating Technology Acceptance Model with Perceived Risk, Attitude and Trust
摘要
The adoption of financial technology (FinTech) among young adults in Mauritius is increasingly modelled by various psychological and contextual factors, prominently illustrated by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). In line with the model, aperceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are substantial determinants of acceptance of a technology. However, with FinTech, it is intertwined with additional considerations such as perceived risk, attitude, and trust, above all among those youth. An online survey was conducted with a sample of 271 young adults in Mauritius and analysed with SPSS version 26, highlighting essential considerations for realizing adoption of FinTech. Perceived usefulness and ease of use had less of an impact on attitudes toward FinTech, compared to expectations. Instead, a demographic perspective had a strong impact on levels of trust. The study suggests that stakeholders should focus in their strategies on reducing risk and establishing trust to encourage young adults to adopt FinTech. Recommended actions include targeted education campaigns, increased security measures, and tailored financial offerings based on the various demographic groups.
