The Relationship Between Digital Skills and Career Advancement in Digitally Transformed Workplaces

Digital transformation advances rapidly due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution leading to major changes in organizational operations and new employee expectations throughout every industry. The increasing significance of digital skills stands at the core of this transformation because they function as essential tools that boost organizational productivity and individual career advancement. The research examines how digital skills influence career advancement inside digitally transformed workplaces in Jordan. The study used a quantitative correlational design to gather data through a structured questionnaire administered to 417 employees from different sectors such as education, banking, telecommunications, healthcare, and public services. The research found that digital skills show a strong positive relationship with career growth indicators like promotions and salary raises. The study determined that educational attainment strengthens this relationship whereas contextual elements like organizational hierarchies and cultural norms act as constraints. The research highlights how organizations need to incorporate digital literacy programs into their workforce development strategies and human resource policies. This study adds to the existing conversation by highlighting how digital transformation's human-centered aspects drive sustainable professional development through digital competence across the changing labor market.
