The Impact of Digital Stress on Student Satisfaction and Performance in Online Learning Environments
摘要
An emerging difficulty introduced by the growth of technology-based instruction, especially for learners over the age of 18, has to do with the increasing negative effects of digital stress on satisfaction with learning and achievement. Data were obtained from 201 students enrolled in online courses at three leading universities within the 2019/2020 academic year. Both descriptive and analytical techniques were used. Data were collected through surveys. Stratified random sampling, in this case, was used to guarantee maximum representation. Analysis was performed using SPSS involving correlation and regression models. The results show how digital stress disrupts the purposive behavior of the learner, which has a strong impact on satisfaction among the students and, therefore, their level of academic performance. Institutions have to make interventions that ensure effective learning in this digital era where technical support, managing learners’ workloads, improving internet access, and reforms in pedagogy. Besides, the cultivation of digital competencies in collaborative use of technologies is essentially what can ease the negative affects brought about by digital stress. Thus, this study highlights the urgency with which institutional measures need to be taken to maximize online learning for a supportive and effective learning environment that nurtures increased student success and resilience.
