The paper evaluates the impact of excavation and construction of projected buildings on the underground collector of the Presnya River in Moscow. The numerical calculation of the stress-strain state of the soil mass within the calculated zone of influence is analysed. The calculation results are isofields of stresses and additional displacements of the collector arch. Based on the analysis of the data obtained, graphs have been compiled illustrating the excess of the ultimate stresses and additional displacements of the brick vault of the collector. Calculations have shown that the loss of the bearing capacity of structures can occur even beyond the boundary of the collector design model. The main reason for the loss of structural strength when exposed to a complex of additional loads is its initial limited operational technical condition. Thus, for clarifying calculations of the geotechnical forecast, the zone of influence should be expanded due to the presence of an object of the III category of technical condition in it. Based on the analysis of available solutions and monitoring data, it is possible to develop a set of engineering measures to protect the historical reservoir of the Presnya River, which are necessary for the further design and construction of modern buildings and structures in the collector zone.

The Impact of New Construction on the Operational Safety of River Collectors
