Dry Building Mixtures Based on Opoka-Like Rocks
摘要
The range of manufactured dry building mixtures is constantly changing, and manufacturers are always looking to expand their portfolio. Due to the increased number of buildings in which clinker construction products are used, enterprises are faced with the need to develop compositions of masonry mortars with improved physical and mechanical characteristics in order to ensure the necessary operational properties of structures. When implementing this task, active mineral additives must be included in the recipes of masonry compositions. At present, the following are actively used as pozzolans for dry building mixtures: microsilica and fly ash, which have an unstable composition, with the possible presence of impurities, as well as metakaolin, which has a relatively high cost. Therefore, as part of the research work, experimental studies were conducted to study properties of cement mortars with the introduction of an active component based on carbonate opoka from the Rostov Region (Russia). This raw material is widespread in various regions of Russia, boasting large deposits of it. The study concludes that mineral and chemical composition of the specified rocks makes it possible to use it not only as an active additive, but also in the form of fillers and aggregates in the compositions of both masonry and other dry building mixtures with various areas of application.
