Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and Cloud Computing in Healthcare: Exploring Use Cases and Solutions

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and cloud computing are transforming healthcare by enhancing patient care, optimising operations, and enabling innovative solutions. This paper presents detailed use cases and multi-layered architectures—comprising sensing, cloud, and application layers—demonstrating how IoMT and AWS cloud services can be effectively integrated for remote monitoring, telehealth, diagnostics, and asset tracking. Through a comparative analysis of leading cloud providers, AWS was selected for its cost efficiency, scalability, and extensive global infrastructure. The findings highlight that AWS-based architectures offer practical, scalable, and secure solutions for diverse healthcare scenarios, supporting real-time analytics and data-driven decision-making. The study concludes that leveraging IoMT with AWS cloud services provides a robust foundation for future advancements in predictive analytics and AI-driven healthcare, while also identifying opportunities for further research towards building smarter, more responsive, and patient-centric healthcare systems.
