There is an increasing demand for shifting pedagogical approaches that recognize not only final output, but also focus on the student learning process. Traditional evaluation often fails to assess how students work with their peers to solve problems, which is an effective learning practice. We propose a conceptual model using the GitHub issue-tracking feature to capture and analyze student engagement and collaboration when addressing problems. This model is based on behavioral responses to resources, such as response frequency, diversity of interaction, and response/interaction support. Although GitHub can be used as a reference platform owing to its robust issue-tracking system, the framework is not platform-specific and is designed to be used in other collaborative programming environments as well. It uses collaborative learning theory to place certain behavioral metrics and rubrics to support diagnosis analysis, customizable teaching assistance, and the application of early interventions. However, the framework is still hypothetical, and future research should conduct empirical validation and implementation. The framework fosters a transition from fixed grading routines to a broader view of learning through a behavior-aware perspective that reflects how students think, experiment, and overcome challenges in the coding environment.

摘要
