PulseLink: Integration of Pulse Oximeter Software with Hardware
摘要
This paper presents a real-time, non-contact pulse oximetry system based on remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) for heart rate (HR) and oxygen saturation (SpO \(_2\) ) estimation using facial video. The system employs OpenCV for video capture, MediaPipe for landmark detection, and wavelet transforms with Independent Component Analysis (ICA) for signal extraction. Vital signs are displayed on an LCD and remotely transmitted via Twilio and Imgur APIs over WhatsApp. Designed for low-cost, hardware-integrated deployment, the system is suitable for edge computing in telemedicine and rural health settings. It demonstrates a ±2% deviation from standard oximeters, validating its accuracy. Challenges under variable lighting, skin tone, and occlusions are acknowledged. Overall, the system offers an interpretable, scalable solution for accessible, contactless health monitoring.
