EV Charging Slot Scheduling: Integrating Advanced Scheduling Algorithms with SDN – A Case Study
摘要
Incorporating Electric Vehicles (EVs) into transportation can lead to a more sustainable and greener society. However, there are certain limitations and challenges that need to be addressed. This paper proposes a cutting-edge EV scheduling system that integrates Software-Defined Networking (SDN) architecture to manage the charging process and install solar-based charging stations into the network. The system has three primary parts: solar charging stations, conventional charging stations, and EVs. An SDN Controller is introduced to control all three parts. The controller schedules charging intervals/sessions based on parameters like battery levels, station availability, and energy sources, and it also receives information from EVs about how much they need to charge. Solar charging stations, which use renewable energy to power EVs, are crucial. When these charging stations meet a certain threshold, the scheduling algorithm dynamically prioritizes these stations, minimizing dependence on grid power and lowering the carbon footprint. The seamless integration of solar-based charging ports aids in the shift towards a smart and sustainable transport ecosystem.
