In the current study, a sophisticated geometric optical modeling approach has been detailed to estimate the optical performance of a V-trough concentrator design. Based on Ray tracing method, both optical efficiency and energy concentration ratio of the V-trough concentrator have been predicted. The outcomes showed that tilt angle with the maximum heat boundary is 70 degrees that yield a local concentrated solar density of 1.54 kW/m2, optical efficiency of 90.4%, and an overall optical concentration ratio of 2.5×.
