Experimental Study of the Evaporation of a Liquid Bridge
摘要
An experimental setup is designed and realized to follow the real-time evolution of the evaporation kinetics of liquid bridges until rupture. Three different substrates (aluminum, PVC and glass) are considered to investigate the effect of the substrate nature on the evaporation rate of the liquid bridge. Furthermore, we study the behavior of the liquid bridge for three different liquids namely water, methanol and ethanol to highlight the effect of the physicochemical properties of the liquids. Results from the conducted experiments are checked against the diffusion model neglecting external convection between the two horizontal plates and good concordance is shown with the analytical model. The experiments report that the substrate nature has no effect on the evaporation rate under the operating conditions used.
