The Critical Role of Local Leaders in Managing the Impacts of Climate Change in Demak, Indonesia
摘要
The impacts of climate change on coastal areas are significant, affecting infrastructure, ecosystems, and communities worldwide. This chapter explains the critical role of local Demak leadership in promoting community resilience and implementing effective adaptation strategies to cope with the rising sea level and seawater inundation. Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive coastal management approaches and sustainable adaptation tactics. This chapter underscores the importance of local leadership in coordinating adaptive strategies. It emphasises the role of effective local leaders in prioritising action plans, mobilising resources, and engaging communities in mitigation efforts. The chapter also provides policy recommendations for integrating local knowledge into climate adaptation strategies, emphasising the importance of prioritising community engagement, capacity building, and continuous monitoring to address the challenges posed by sea level rise.
