This chapter examines the role of local governments in Indonesia in responding to climate-induced migration, focusing on coastal communities in North Jakarta, Semarang, Pekalongan, and Demak. This chapter takes a particular focus on women and children, who require greater visibility in policy responses to migration and climate change. This chapter focuses on populations who have relocated and immobile communities who are left behind in unsafe environments. Both experiences see a dislocation for women and children from communities and the social protections that come with community. Therefore, there is a need for migration policy, as a form of climate change response, to include gender-specific provisions. While infrastructure projects such as sea walls are prioritised, most adaptation programmes lack explicit support for women and children, who face increased vulnerability and limited participation. Fieldwork and policy analysis highlight the need for more inclusive, gender- and child-sensitive adaptation strategies to enhance resilience and social equity in affected communities.

摘要
