In this chapter, we study the spectrum sharing between communication- and radar-sensing systems that operate independently. Here, communications and radar sensing use different waveforms in independent hardware, subject to possible interference to each other. In subsequent chapters, we will assume that communications and radar sensing share the same waveform. In this chapter, we only introduce a subset of the studies. Many other excellent researches, such as [16, 103, 104], are left to the readers to exploit.
