After Bangladesh’s independence, social protection programs were initiated to address poverty and natural disasters. While these programs helped reduce poverty significantly, income inequality has increased. This study investigates the effectiveness of these programs, particularly their impact on equity and the Sustainable Development Goals. The research, based on social protection theories and a mixed-method approach, reveals that corruption and political interference are major obstacles to the programs’ success.

摘要

After Bangladesh’s independence, social protection programs were initiated to address poverty and natural disasters.
