This chapter explores the implications of my account of colour experience for the philosophy of colour. It looks at the implications for three general types of theories of colour: objectivism, subjectivism and relationalism. Of these, objectivism finds itself under the most pressure from my account, and we will see that pluralist interpretations of objectivism are best equipped to respond to this challenge. Finally, I return to the ecological and constitutionalist accounts of elementary colours, and show that my understanding of colour experience provides a way of reconciling their core insights.

摘要

This chapter explores the implications of my account of colour experience for the philosophy of colour. It looks at the implications for three general types of theories of colour: objectivism, subjectivism and relationalism. Of these, objectivism finds itself under the most pressure from my account, and we will see that pluralist interpretations of objectivism are best equipped to respond to this challenge. Finally, I return to the ecological and constitutionalist accounts of elementary colours, and show that my understanding of colour experience provides a way of reconciling their core insights.
