Artificial intelligence, data science, and optimization are three distinct scientific disciplines, each shaped by its own history, methodologies, and guiding principles. Over the past few decades, however, these fields have increasingly converged, much like the three musketeers joining forces to confront the challenges posed by big data in the modern world. Together, they have laid the foundation for Intelligent Data Analysis (IDA), an interdisciplinary field dedicated to the effective and trustworthy analysis of data. In this chapter, I offer a personal reflection on the evolution of IDA, highlight key milestones in its development, and examine the opportunities ahead.
