Hydrochemical Characteristics and Controlling Factors of Water Quality in Typical Rivers of the Jiziwan Region, Yellow River Basin
摘要
The chemical component of natural water reflects the process of water transformation, which is crucial for water resource sustainable development in arid and semi-arid regions. However, research on the hydrochemical characteristicsHydrochemical characteristic of water environment in arid and semi-arid regions remains limited. This study investigated the hydrochemical characteristicsHydrochemical characteristic of the Kuye River and Wuding River and analyzed the controlling factors. Groundwater exhibits superior quality compared to surface water and both of them are weakly alkaline. The main ion compositions of groundwater are characterized by Ca2⁺ > Na+ > Mg2+ > K+ in cations and SO42− > Cl− > NO3− in anions, while that of surface water are Na⁺ > Ca2⁺ > Mg2⁺ > K⁺ in cations and SO42− > Cl− > NO3− in anions. Water qualityWater quality of the Kuye River is inferior than that of the Wuding River and ion compositions in the two basins exhibit distinct spatial distributionsSpatial distribution. The ion sourcesIon sources of surface water and groundwater are different. In surface water, the sources of Na⁺, K⁺, and Cl− likely are evaporation and irrigation, while that of Ca2⁺, SO42− and NO3− may be carbonate rock dissolution, sulfate mineral and fertilizer application. In groundwater, Ca2⁺ and Mg2⁺ primarily come from carbonate mineral, while Na⁺, K⁺, Cl− and SO42− are mainly from mine drainage, evaporative concentration, and the dissolution of sodium and sulfate minerals. This study is meaningful to understand the hydrogeochemical process, providing the scientific basis and reference for water resource sustainable development in arid/semi-arid regions.
