Structural, Geotechnical and Historical Investigation of the Proposed Restoration of the Eastern Walls of Chania
摘要
The Municipality of Chania decided to redevelop the area on the Eastern Venetian Walls of Chania in order to be used as public shelter during emergency evacuation situations (earthquake, etc.). This created the need for high performance requirements and standards, to be taken into account, regarding the structural safety of the walls, in the event of an earthquake. The solutions adopted were a combination of piles and reinforced embankments. A rainwater management system was also designed so that the water does not seep into the embankment This paper will attempt to present the key elements of the design as it was approved by the Central Archaeological Council (ΚΑΣ).
