Before starting the analysis on criminal compliance and how it is incorporated into the Brazilian legal system, some brief notes on the role currently played by criminal law, especially in its economic aspect, are necessary. If previously criminal norms had the function of ex post regulation, that is, after the occurrence of a criminal irregularity, its current focus is on preventive conduct and practices, seeking to regulate and structure control barriers to the risks characteristic of business activity.
