Several scintigraphic imaging procedures are being used to diagnose and follow up gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions. These functional studies provide information that is complementary to endoscopy and the morphologic imaging modalities, The chapter presents brief discussion of the most common procedures particularly those used in the assessment of gastric emptying, suspected cholecystitis, biliary obstruction, gastroesophageal reflux and localization of active GI bleeding and ectopic gastric mucosa in a Meckel’s diverticulum.
