Artificial Intelligence (AI) Toward Streamlining Lean Manufacturing Approaches

To stay competitive on the international scale, industrial companies need to create and use innovative ideas in their manufacturing and operations. There have been adjustments made to new technology and methods for product creation. Global change happens so quickly that businesses are forced to face challenges and issues. Reducing waste and increasing quality and efficiency are the top concerns for the business. One proven concept that needs to be a part of any strategic business plan is Lean Manufacturing (LM) which has been demonstrated, may reduce processing times and boost plant efficiency in large manufacturing operations. Eventually, the capacity of industries to overcome challenges systematically and successfully is what decides the worth of their final goods. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology in various industries, including LM. This literature review aims to provide an overview of the current state of research and applications of AI in LM. By synthesizing findings from academic journals, conference proceedings, and industry reports, this review identifies key trends, challenges, and opportunities associated with integrating AI technologies in LM practices. The review covers topics such as predictive maintenance, quality control, demand forecasting, supply chain optimization, process optimization, human-robot collaboration, and continuous improvement.
