Island Microgrids: Cornerstone of Sustainable Island Energy Systems
摘要
Island and remote communities confront a unique and acute set of energy challenges that distinguish them from mainland, interconnected regions. These challenges, rooted in geographical isolation and economic constraints, render conventional energy paradigms both unsustainable and unreliable. Island microgrids have consequently emerged not merely as an alternative but as a foundational technology for establishing secure, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable energy futures for these vulnerable populations. This chapter will analyze the specific energy dilemmas faced by islands, detail the technological compositions and advanced control strategies of island microgrids, and assess their profound socioeconomic and environmental impacts through an examination of seminal case studies.
