The privatisation models of indigenous land tenure in Africa are the focus of this chapter. The discussion in this chapter is organised around two models that are identified and explored through a review of the secondary literature. The model of private interests in indigenous land tenure is demonstrated by examining legislative developments in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The second model demonstrates how state ownership of indigenous tenure impacts its privatisation in Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria, Botswana, Namibia, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe.

摘要

The privatisation models of indigenous land tenure in Africa are the focus of this chapter. The discussion in this chapter is organised around two models that are identified and explored through a review of the secondary literature. The model of private interests in indigenous land tenure is demonstrated by examining legislative developments in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The second model demonstrates how state ownership of indigenous tenure impacts its privatisation in Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria, Botswana, Namibia, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe.
