The chapter gives the definition of living being, as it was proposed by Mario Ageno, in the 1980s. Later, after presenting the main aspects of the theories put forward to describe the transition from the non-living to the living (from the formation of biological molecules to the formulation of metabolic and genetic hypotheses), we describe Ageno’s hypothesis in order to respond to this problem. Finally, we discuss the possibility that Life was formed outside our planet.

摘要

The chapter gives the definition of living being, as it was proposed by Mario Ageno, in the 1980s. Later, after presenting the main aspects of the theories put forward to describe the transition from the non-living to the living (from the formation of biological molecules to the formulation of metabolic and genetic hypotheses), we describe Ageno’s hypothesis in order to respond to this problem. Finally, we discuss the possibility that Life was formed outside our planet.
