The CDR Maturity Model: Guiding Digital Responsibility in Turbulent Times
摘要
In the context of accelerating digitalisation and rising sustainability expectations, companies are facing the strategic and ethical challenge of the so-called “twin transformation”. Corporate digital responsibility (CDR) offers a normative and practical framework to guide organisations in aligning digital innovation with social, environmental, and economic values. This chapter introduces the CDR Maturity Model developed by the German CDR Initiative as a central tool for implementing and advancing CDR in practice. Based on ethical principles and structured around five key fields of action—data handling, education, climate and resource protection, employee involvement, and inclusion—the model supports organisations in systematically developing their digital responsibility across five maturity levels. It is grounded in the logic of Capability Maturity Models and operationalised through tools like the CDR Quick Check and flexible partnership formats. The chapter situates the model within the broader architecture of CDR governance and explores its philosophical underpinnings, practical applications, and strategic relevance. By combining ethical orientation with organisational usability, the maturity model provides actionable guidance for navigating digital responsibility in turbulent times.
