In the engineering field, elimination of deviations (errors and defects) is a time-consuming and costly endeavour, especially of those that are detected at the stage of using a product. That is why it is essential to minimize the number of deviations in the early stages of a life cycle of the latter. Recording and collecting errors, their categorization, analysis and further taking preventive action allow us to enhance the product quality with less effort than when using only deviation control, therefore, many scientific works are devoted to this topic. However, in these works, insufficient attention is given to the self-control of the main participants (including designers, which develop the design documentation) via the information support on the basis of statistics on errors. As a solution to the question, in the paper, a method of information support, based on the categorization of errors in the design documentation and usage of the Pareto principle, realized by means of author’s automated system and tested on errors, which belong to passing norm control, is suggested. On the example of an engineering master's students term work explanatory note, 6 categories of norm control errors, requiring special attention when preparing the design documentation, were determined.

摘要
