Building on Bishop’s three metaphors—mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors, for conceptualizing multicultural children’s literature, the chapter introduces a new genre: co-woven storytelling. Grounded in the Persona Doll Approach and focused on the Israeli context, it aims to promote positive attitudes toward social and cultural diversity among young children. The stories emerge from a collaborative process involving focus groups from diverse communities, early childhood professionals, persona dolls representing children from multiple backgrounds, and the children themselves. Writers and PDA experts tie the threads together into a coherent narrative. The process gives voice to children’s authentic experiences, enabling them to express identity and empathy, confront and respond to injustice and distress. Thus, co-woven storytelling adds a dynamic, participatory dimension to Bishop’s framework. It cultivates appreciation of diversity, promotes shared life, strengthens resilience, and provides hope—both in times of routine and in times of crisis.

摘要
