This chapter examines the application of metabasalt as a soil remineralizer in the Cerrado region, where soil acidity presents a significant challenge to agriculture. It is based on research that investigates the potential of metabasalt powder, rich in essential nutrients such as calcium and magnesium, to enhance the chemical properties of acidic soils. This study aims to evaluate the effects of metabasalt on soil pH and nutrient availability, as well as its impact on the productivity of maize (Zea mays L.) and soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill.]. The objective is to determine the feasibility of using metabasalt as an alternative to traditional liming materials. This determination will be achieved by employing an innovative method that adjusts the results of pH obtained from increasing doses of metabasalt mixed with soil over 24 h. The results indicate that metabasalt can effectively correct soil acidity, enhance nutrient availability, and improve crop yields, offering a promising solution for sustainable agriculture in the Cerrado biome.

摘要
