Lecture 15. Basic Interactions in Metals: Ion–Ion and Electron–Ion Interaction
摘要
We consider basic interactions in metals in the second quantizationQuantizationsecond quantization techniqueSecond quantizationsecond quantization technique. We reveal an essential role of the electroneutrality condition in metals. We introduce important notations of the correlation radius and Wigner–Seitz elementary cellCellelementary cell and calculate the average potential energies of electron–ion and electron–electron interactionsElectron–electron interactionInteractionelectron–electron interaction. In the end of the Lecture, we discuss Fermi gasGasFermi gas of non-interacting electrons at zero temperature and calculate the average kinetic energyEnergykinetic energy and Pauli pressure in it.
