Psychotherapy Compared to Pharmacotherapy
摘要
To various degrees, psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy can be effective treatments for depressive disorders. Different types of antidepressants and psychotherapies may have different effects. These effects appear to vary by both the molecular pathways and areas of the brain that are targeted. Demographics, expectations, and depression severity of target populations may contribute to the relative degree of efficacy of each of the treatments. Negative side effects are possible from both pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy. Meta-analyses are frequently beset by studies that are underpowered or poorly controlled. Sometimes, complementary results may be achieved by combinations of CBT and antidepressants.
